15.40 on the 2nd of January 1994 the inhabitants of Kobe in Japan,
experienced
one of the most violent earthquakes of modern time. Measuring
7.4
on the Richter scale, the earthquake brought fire and devastation
to the city,
despite
the very effective anti-seismic regulations which are in place in
Japan.
